Default Front Fork servicing

Does anyone out there have solid info on how to change the oil in the front forks on my '94 F2? I have the factory manual but it doesn't say exactly how to do it; obviously drain it out the bottom and pour it in the top but it lists the capacity as 460cc but doesn't say if that is each one or for both and also lists a fork oil level of 135 (5.31) but does not tell you how to check it. Does anyone have an aftermarket manual and what does it say? Thanks

Here's the quick and dirty way without taking apart the forks.

First crack fork caps loose. Then remove forks from bike. Next unscrew fork caps fully. Dump out old oil. Pump damper rod to get fluid out of cartridge too. Pour 460cc fluid into each leg. Screw caps back on. Put forks back in bike. Lightly tighten fork caps. Hold front brake and bounce front end up and down dozen time to pump fluid back into cartridges. Go ride.

Thanks for that. I've also noticed that the previous owner left the forks about 5/8" high above the clip-ons so I think I'll put them back to flush. I see that some people lower the front of the bike way down, not sure if there is any advantage to that beyond looks...Thanks again for the help!

You can make the bike more "flickable" by raising the forks in the triples, but this is only done at a few mm's.

It makes the bike turn in quicker, but is less stable at high speed.

If you like to ride your bike hard, it's best to have a professional set up your suspension.

See? I knew there had to be a reason. No I'm a tourer so back to stock is fine for me; I run oout of courage before the bike runs out of ways to scare me. Just trying to give it the maintainence that it needs. Thanks for the info!
