fork oil change?

fork oil change?
How often does the fork oil need to be changed? when i brake the front end takes a dive. one of my buddies said the oil might be old. I think my suspension might be too squishy. I bought the bike from a guy that was about 185ish. I'm 220lbs. Is there a way to stiffen up the suspension?

RE: fork oil change?
there is, but I'm not positive what the method is on the F2's. I would make it a point to change the fork oil every 10k miles or every other season though. its one of, if not the most neglected things on a bike because many people dont realize that all moving parts require oil to work well for prolonged periods of time.

RE: fork oil change?
I"ll help as much as I can, probably the easiest way, is by pulling the drain plug on the bottom of the fork leg. Look in your clymers manual, Chapter 10, page 327, on the breakdown, the bolt to remove, is part #20 titled Drain bolt. remove the top cap as well(carefully, the spring under it puts some pressure on that cap)
The purpose of removing the top cap is twofold, first, it relieves the negative pressure in the fork allowing the oil to drain out the bottom, and second, when you put the drain bolt back in this is how you refill the fork with oil.
Note you DO NOT measure the oil in ml, instead measure it by how far from the top of the fork it is with the fork fully compressed.
I got this info below from the Clymer manual, in the first page of quick refererence data.
The fork oil height for your bike is:
91-93 model is 118mm or 4.65" from the top of the fork leg,
94 models its 135mm or 5.31" from the top of the fork leg.
I hope this is helpful
