Default Fork Oil Change

Could someone please tell me the correct amount of fork oil for a '94 F2? The PDF service manual I have doesn't have any capacity specs, and I didn't get a manual with the bike.

Also, the SM seems to show the fork cap screwing up and out over the fork piston and adjuster. Mine gets to a certain point and stops. Is this the correct way, and I just have to twist harder? I've currently have the piston disconnected from the fork cap. Which is ok, but every time I move the fork I get a fountain of fork oil. So now I have to replace the fork oil. I wanted to get the fork working smoother for the track this weekend. Probably should try to align the top triple clamp also...

Thanks,
Steve

Thanks '92, I appreciate the info! I'll assume that's for both fork legs. IIRC either the VF or VFR had slightly different levels between the 2 legs. That should get me in the ball park anyway. If the fork leg is really bent the exact level won't be that critical!

Thanks again,
Steve

the fork oil comes in 16 oz per bottle, I put the same amount on each leg. you should really get a manual if you work on the bike alot, I never worked on a bike before but the process want very smooth for me.

I downloaded the PDF manual that was going around sometime back. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to have complete info. Guess I'll have to buy a manual. Are the Clymer manuals any good, or can I get a OEM manual from somewhere?

BTW Traxxion recommends 140 mm with spring out and fork collapsed. That is somewhere around 18-19 oz, from what I saw the mechanic put in. Also got a lesson on how to assemble the forks. I used Mobil 1 ATF, recommended by many on the VFR list, and seemed to work well in the VFR. Now I have fork travel, but the triple is bent to heck and back... :-(
