so lately ive been working on my bike, fixing the fairings, getting parts ready for paint, etc. its it normal to have a slight surface coating of rust inside the gas tank?

im probably going to leave the rear fender (the one that hugs the wheel) off, mostly because it will be a PITA to put back on. im going to put a sheet of aluminum or carbon fiber or something on the bottom of the rear subframe to keep the elements and rocks and whatnot out of my new 'trunk'. is there anything i should look out for in doing this? ill probably rig up some sort of chain guard, but thats the least of my worries right now.

what else should i have done while the bike is apart and stuff is accessable? im going to replace the air filter, and all the little bits of hardware that are missing.

For an F2, light rust could be normal. Mine has some discoloration, but no rust. You can leave it, just have a good inline fuel filter!

I don't see any problems with a flat rock guard on the sub-frame. Just make sure to verify rear tire clearance at full shock compression.

If you have not had any other problems, anything other than routine mx is not really needed.

i'm gonna do the same. but i'm thinking some diamond plate. and i want to put red LED's pointing to the tire. it should make me seen a little more. and when i burn some rubber it should look kickass.
