What's the easiest bolt-on fork swap for these bikes nowadays??

Not one answer here - Easiest Bolt on w/ best performance - probably full Race Tech drop-in cartridges. - that way you keep all your stock equipment and replace the fork internals. I have no idea what these cost - but I'm guessing at least $850-$1K for a set of these. They're modular though - and can be moved to other bikes down the road.
easiest bolt on w/ best value - eiher rebuilt 94 forks with Race-tech springs and gold Valves, or 95-98 F3 forks with the same treatment inside, but you have to swap your current F2 lower legs onto the F3 uppers to make your brake calipers line up.
swapping to any other fork completely means you almost 100% have to swap front wheel and brakes/rotors, and lose your speedometer function. Not an "easy bolt-on" in my book.

900rr front end is a pretty desirable swap over.
F3 front end is desirable as well, but requires a different case cover which has a pickup on it, then you gotta swap out gauges... and pretty soon you're getting highly involve with splicing wires, and things get less than pretty with that process.

ive had all 3 shocks f2, f3, and f4i shock and i personally think the f4i shock was the best bang for the buck. although it does sit high, you can adjust the rebound on it from soft to firm. It gives you the same advantages as a fox spring with out all the buck. Personally i like the f4i and its easy on long commutes for me.
if you want re regular ride height with a f4i is using the f4i shock with a lowering link and it will go back to regular ride height. with that you will still keep it under 500 for suspension
