Default SHOCK Questions

Hey All,
Looking to upgrade / swap out my 96F3 shock for a F4 , F4i one.
Questions are ,,, What year , years , shock will fit my 96 ?
Are the F4 and F4i the same size ?
What's the difference between the Red color and Yellow color springs ?
( Or is red a certain year ,,, and yellow another ) .
p.s. ,,, I DO want to raise the rear some .
THANKS for ALL who reply !

the F4i shock is longer as you already know... it raises the back end quite a bit....enough that the back end is a little less stable at speed, but it turns in fast. You'll have to grind clearance in the pivot to have access to the rebound adjustment screw.

not sure about colors....I suspect its part of the paint scheme.

Dont hold me to this, but I think the different colors are different spring rates. The F4 and F4i had slightly different linkages IIRC hence different springs.. like an F2/F3.

Racetech shows the same spring rate from 99 to at least 01
