F2 problems
Ok so I just got a 94 f2 kinda new to the honda scene. I've had it for about two months now and decided to synce the carbs, due to bad throttle responce and running. Upon doing so I came to find out that the fuel line was hooked to the number two carb and the plug was on num one carb. The service manual said it should be fuel line on one and plug on to, so I swap them back around and synced the carbs. To my amazement it wasnt to bad to do and it made the throttel responce better and gave me more power. But I forgot to mention from the get go, the reason for syncing the bike it has a real bad rattleing backfire in the pipe when I let off the trottel and when I'm in sixth gear just cruising around 70 it kinda seems like it is hesitating. (spelling might be incorrect) Was told it could be one of two problems, was told it could be the ignition timing, but was told it probualy wasnt since I synced it and its running fine or that I need to jet it considering it has a yoshi cap on it and not the full exhaust. Can some one please help me try to narrow this down to what is actually wrong, to where I can get the problem resolved and get back to tearing up the streets. Thanks and hope to get some good input.
I don't understand how the fuel line could have been hooked up wrong but since its better we'll skip that.If you have a backfire, first thing is that's easy is check for air leaks.Just spray something with a high flash point around the intake boots when its running,if you hear a change in rpm you know you have a leak. Then spray the the exhaust ports, more unlikely but maybe someone reused gaskets or something or a nut is loose.
It can also backfire from being too rich or too lean.If you just have a slip-on and a stock air filter it should have stock jetting. You need to check all these things and the plugs.
Good luck.

I would deffo check those plugs. It will tell you a good deal about howz shes running. I had a rough runner a few years back and went down the fuel/carb/air route thinking that was a good place to start. She would fire up fine but hesitate on the throttle at certain revs....then "clean" itself and shoot off like a rocket only to go back to hesitating again. Two days smelling of fuel, everything apart, back together, apart again, and then guess what..... changed the battery and perfect again. Sometimes you just got to keep searching but the answer is always there in the end. Best of luck fella
