Default f2 missing at high rpm

Hey all,
Just got back fro a track day at Arroyo Seca in NM. Trusty F2 ususally does me right but this time it started loosing power at high rpms'. The day started fine, but later on, the bike would not reach redline before cutting out, almost like the reline had reduced itself. By the end of the day, it would not rev past 10k. It felt like hitting redline but it wasn't. Any thoughts as to what could cause this? Intial thoughts were that the valves needied adjusting.

thanks,
B

Valve adjustment wouldn't have that kind of effect immediately. Sounds more of either fuel starvation or the rev limiter somehow became askew..

Seafoam!! Always a good cheap fix/clean-up.

Yeah, you could try seafoam, but I don't think it is going to "cure" this one... Put new plugs in - I had a set in an FZR one time that sounded exactly like you are talking about. I tried everything including seafoam and yamaha fuel shock, etc. Talked to the yamaha dealer service department and asked if it could be the plugs..."nah, it's not the plugs" he said. I put new ones in anyway and it ran like it was friggin brand new.

Appreciate the feedback. Planning to look into plugs and to make sure the coils are ok first before I do anything else.

thanks

As an update, I discovered that the regulator/rectifier (rr) was the culprit. It was getting ready to fail spectacularily.Doesn't always fail this way, but I have found at least one other person who had the same symptons I did.
