Default F2 GAS TANK PROBLEM!!!!!

My 93 F2 was down and out for three years sitting in my garage. I originally planned on getting a new bike this year, HONDA ofcourse, but I decided to wait until next year. I just had to get back into riding though! So I took my bike to a honda dealership in the area to have it repaired. The repairs were done and the bike runs great. There is only one problem..... the gas tank was corroded ina few spots. So they suggestedlining the tank. When the lining was finished I received more bad news. There was yet another problem with the tank. Supposedly the tanks internalmetal tube, that connects with the rubber hose, is damaged do to the corrosion. When the tank is filledup past a certain point it starts to leak gas.In large quantities from what I was told. The service manager told me that he thinks the tube is cracked or something and when the tank is filled up gas starts to flow into that tube at an uncontrolled rate causing the gas to leak out of the tank. Anyway this is a definite saftey hazard and I'm not riding my bike until I get this tank issue taken care of. So I want to know if anyone has experienced this with their bike and if so how did you fix it? My next question is if it can't be fixed is anyone parting out an F2? I need a gas tank in good working condition. I found out my tank brand new is discontinued. Not that I would pay $725 for a brand new tank anyway. If anyone has some suggestions or is selling a CBR F2 gas tank in good working conditionI would really appreciate the help.

Look on ebay, I have seen 2 on there lately for about 70 bucks. A tank off f3 will work if im not mistaken. But if there is corrosion I would change tank or have someone clean it and buy a new petcock possibly.

My petcock assembly is leaking and it is only somtimes ( like after I fill up ) I am going to try to replace the o-ring inside the petcock first before I fork over all the money for a new petcock. o-ring = $2.50, petcock assembly = $180

I just replaced my petcock....I got one for an newer f2...the $40 one, not the $140 one...I plugged the vac line from carb #1, and everything runs fine...If you have an older F2 (mine is a 1992), save your money , get the one for the newer versions, plug the vac line, and ride safe...

I had a leak I thought was coming from the petcock but when I took the tank off I found that the tank was rubbing on the air box and made 6 different pinholes on the bottom of the tank. I went to autozone and picked up some tank weld(I think that is what its called) and had the problem fixed within a few minutes. Everytime I would fill the tank more than half full it would leak , maybe thats your problem also. Good luck

All the fuel related tubing in the tank comes out the with petcock, so I'd mess with that before buying a tank. If you lined the tank correctly, its not the tank thats leaking unless there is a fair sized hole in it (like bigger than a pencil lead).
