Yea. North end, by Fircrest.

I ran out of gas coming off of Highway 16 at center street yesterday. 142 miles. 4 gallons of gas @ $4.02. ouch. Still cheaper then my car, but not what I expected. I suppose I could adjust the carbs a little .... and put some fairings on!

Just an update. Still with out fairings, I adjusted the idle screws in a half turn (had them set at the recommended 2 1/8 per the book) and went through another tank. I spent most of this tank of the freeway though. I filled up at 141.7 (previously ran out at 142). 2.6 gallons! So about 54 mpg. Much better. Coming in the next week are new tires, rejetting with Keihun upgraded jets (instead of the I don't know what thats in there), an oil change and we'll see!!

Oh and anyone local to me (N Tacoma), the Shell on 6th, just off of Jackson, has premium fuel for $4.07. The Chevron down the street is $4.45!!

Default My f2 is eating fuel..

I just got my f2 running again and I barely went 50 miles on a full tank before running out and having to refuel. I cruise around at about 6k rpm so I'm thinking that may be too high but not enough to eat that much fuel. Please help

I would do a basic tune up, fresh plugs, air filter, oil and filter, AND clean the carbs. See what jets are in the carbs. I would think it wouldnt even run drinking that much fuel. Maybe you have a fuel leak somewhere giving you the impression it drinking that much fuel.

Okay I'm going to get a new air filter today. I just put a new oil filter and an oil change and new plugs. I was also thinking it could be something wrong with the carbs. The idle has also been high like around 4k so idk if that also has something to do with it. When I have the tank off the bike it builds up pressure inside the tank and shoots fuel out the overflow but it never does that when I'm riding it, at least I've never noticed it. After I change the air filter I'll let you know how it does.

Make sure you dont have a reuseable, washable filter before you buy a new one. I've seen people throw away dirty K & N filters not knowing and buying new K & N's. Are you sure the tank is building pressure? Maybe its building vacuum from a pinch off vent hose. Maybe its building pressure from a pinch off vent hose along with the fuel getting hot in the tank. There is an idle adjustment near the petcock on/off valve, its a little black twist ***. If its back out far enough, dont do it too far, then maybe your throttle cables are too tight actually opening the throttle. Is there a little freeplay with the throttle, there should be. The only way fuel should come out the overflow is if the tank is clear full or your tilting the tank to where fuel can get to the overflow. Check the rubber seal on the fuel cap to make sure its in place and not slipping to where it would block off the overflow hole or the vent.

Okay I figured out the idle it's idling fine now. But now I found that the fuel is somehow getting into the oil. I took out the dipstick after smelling oil burning and it smelled like gasoline. Any ideas why this is happening? Also how can I tell if the air filter is washable/reusable? Does it say it on the filter?
