I'm pretty sure I would not consider someone who did that to me a friend. Aquaintance maybe but definately NOT a friend. Any one I consider a friend of mine would not welch on a deal we had made. Their are more people out there to meet than there are bikes to ride. If somebody does you like that now, what's he gonna do tomorrow? Drop him like the bad habit he is! Hang with the people who REALLY care about you and vise-versa.
