This has been discussed mostly in threads about storing the bike over the winter where some riders thought it was a good idea to turn the bike on every few weeks and just let it idle in the garage.... ended up with a dead battery if I recall correctly since idling the bike (usually just below 1500 rpm) doesn't charge the battery. The point of all this is that you may NEED to rev your bike higher when riding to avoid killing the battery.

You won't overheat your bike if you keep the RPM below the redline AND are moving air over the radiator (ie. don't rev to redline while sitting still). Assuming your bike is in basic working order.

PS. how are you shifting out of first at 1k rpm? If this is the performance level you are used to on your cbr 600 please be extremely cautious/careful when you actually use the engine/power these bikes have if/when you follow the above advice to shift at higher rpm. You may be more than a little surprised and you don't want to rear end someone.
Heats not really the issue with redlining, its component failure do to improper lubrication, valve float etc.

PS Victoria represent :P Glad to see another garden city rider on here. I don't see alot of the old CBRs in town, sadly.

and i have a question, i've seen people put those cbr 1000 fairings on their F2 by cutting here and there but what other fairings can I put on a 1993 F2?? like what other model is compatible and i will not have to do any cutting at all?

Nothing will bolt on directly without some form of cutting, fabricating brackets and the like.

RE: overheating... the OP was questioning the heat issue (in his post with the youtube vid), I was telling him not to worry about overheating it.

I am also sad to see the number of old CBRs dwindling in town... a few years ago I would see them around but now it is only me (and you I guess). I've had 3 F2s through the years and an F4i but I went back to the F2 as it is such good value for money and I actually understand how a carb'd bike works enough to do my own repairs. Adrenaline M/C coop?

Not too many people go from a newer bike to older... Good on ya. FI definitely has some advantages over carbs, but I'll talk the serviceability and simplicity of carbs any day.

I'm not a member at adrenalin, but it is the first place I go to when I am looking for gear or accessories. Probably will order my new tires from them as well. I was there at their open house in the fall, doubt you were there cause it was all just yammies and gsxr's
