Question Engine Problems "where to start"

Buddy bought a used engine on ebay

Whats in the Rad...

Whats in the Oil.

Video of engine rattle

We have change the head gasket, new oil and clean water and still looks like chocolate milk. Cams are installed by the book. My buddy did tighten the chain tensioner (APE) down tight.

We need some help so we can get his street fighter out on the street.

You're running straight water in the radiator? Run a 50 50 mix. Water doesn't have the same lubricating qualities as coolant.

I couldn't really tell what was wrong with it in the video. I thought I could hear the chain cam rattle but I don't know. Just be sure to tighten the chain accordingly. And it sort of sounded like there was some surging. Was that just to rev it from dying or what? What is actually wrong with it? Have you ridden it?

Supposedly you can only get oil in at the head gasket. We just changed the head gasket and thinking it might be residual crap left over, but not sure.

Well .... I'm not gonna say it's not possible that this might be the case but looks like you've eliminated the only "normal" problem with this ... which bike is this ??? ... and have you checked your oil again lately to see if this is continuing and that it wasn't just leftover crap ???

It is my F2 motor on my F23 project. The motor has us scratching our heads. Everything is to spec from the book.
CCT is just tight enough, sounds like it is coming from the other side of the bike.

Well since you're getting water in your oil we have some kind of sealing issue between the two systems .... you've done the head gasket so kick that out ... the only other thing I could think of that would be a meeting point for water and oil would be at the water pump ...

I'm pretty sure on the F2 it's the same concept as my 954 ... the water pump is driven by a shaft linked to the oil pump inside the crankcase ...

The rattling noise on the other hand .... i'm scratchin my head here too lol ... what WAS the smoke coming from btw ???

check the oil cooler, between the engine block under the fuel tank. Possible location, follow the inlet water hose to the oil cooler where water cools the oil. Remove the cover you will see an o-ring seal and cover gskt. The o-ring goes bad due to lack of Preventive Maintenance.

Mistake on Location, its by the oil filter no outer water hose, water flow is in the engine casing. Remove the cover, oil cooler, possible o-rings are worn or crushed. Hoping it will fix your problem.
