Default Engine code query

I have a question I need answering please. I have a 1991 f2 which needs a new engine. I've found a replacement I think will be ok to use but the engine codes are slightly different. Mine starts with PC25E and the possible replacement is FC25E, is this going to be a problem? Everything looks the same on both units, just don't want to part with the cash and have 2 useless engines.

you sure it isn't scraped off or not completely readable - cause PC25 indicates the honda chassis code for the f2 - 91-94 model. The F3's were designated PC31, and the earlier F1's were PC21. The motor codes follow the chassis they are supposed to go in, and to my knowledge there isn't a "FC25"

I don't have my Haynes manual in front of me - but if you could give the complete code off the new motor, I can cross reference it for you and make sure it follows thier naming convention and serial number format.

I have double checked in my haynes and there is no "FC" serial numbers, all units are PC25E its the numbers after that designate year.
PC25E-20 (1991)
PC25E-21 (1992)
PC25E-22 (1993)
All the way up to PC25E-27 (1998)

anything after a PC25E-23 (1994) is an F3 engine, it will go in but there are differences, I completed a swap for an F3 last month so shout if it is and I'll help point you in the right direction.

Most important is to get a warranty (28 days min to give you time) on the engine and make sure the at least do a compression test before you buy.
