Default RE: It died

i just went through my friends with him. he has a 91, but its essentially the same bike. we checked to see if it was fuel by shooting some ether start in the carbs and cranking it. nothing. if that doesnt work, start checking electrical. he wasnt getting any spark but we checked the coils and they were good, just not getting power. it turned out it was the CDI box. make sure you check your rectifier, stator, and coils. the way we found out that it was the cdi is that we checked all of the other things, and then checked the continuity of the wires from the cdi to the coils. these are what tell the coils what to do. the wires were good, therefore, the cdi is working improperly. i called the shop to see if there is a way to check the cdi, but they said the way they do it is to check everything else electrical, and if its all good, its the cdi. they said they cant check to see if a cdi is malfunctioning. i dont know if it isne possible, or they just dont have the equipment. start by checking the spark, if its good, move on to the bigget things
