Check Coolant?

RE: Check Coolant?
In the front right side of the bike. You will have too take off your front fairing and the right side panel to get easy access. Make sure your bike is cool so you don't get blow back and get burned use water wetter or engine ice and your bike will runn much cooler.
This is what I use in my f2 race bike

RE: Check Coolant?
I wish you guys would wise up to the engine running cooler, IT dosent on wetter!!!
the whole point of a thermostat is to allow the engine to reach it's optimum temp' before opening, & allowing the coolant to circulate through the radiator to be cooled, the temp is with the 'stat FULLY OPEN is 95deg C (203' F) if your wetter is allowing the engine to run cooler as you say the stat won't open & if it don't open and the engine is running cool, your accelerating engine bore wear, & a host of other problems, like I've mentioned in other posts the diferent metals expand at different rates and the optimum temp' is between 92Deg C ~ 95. for everything to run and fit nice and snug,

RE: Check Coolant?
I happened accross this post and figured I'd ask a question too. I was inspecting my bike the other day and noticed that my coolant level is a bit low, if the products mentioned above are *not* reccomended for the (very valid) reason you mentioned, what should we be using?

RE: Check Coolant?
the best coolant to use is 50% distilled water & 50% ethyl based antifreeze, you must use distilled water as this is pure water with nothing in it to cause furring and white deposites you see in alloy based engines
hope this helps
and it states the use of distilled water in the HONDA BIBLE it,s not the additives that prevent corrosion it's the distilled water , although the antifreezes do have corrosion inhibitors in them...

RE: Check Coolant?
when using water wetter on my RR, my bike did not run cooler all the time. Water Wetter is not designed to lower your car's bulk coolant temperature. it still heated up to the same temps on my daily commute. but the difference was that once i started moving the bike would cool down faster. but the most important reason i ran it was because most tracks won't allow coolant. and yes always use distilled water.
