Charging a battery??
Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and new to riding!!
I just have a general question right now... I need to charge the battery for my f2 and I want to use a battery charger (not a jump pack or jumper cables). This is a unit that plugs into an outlet and let charge, I guess for a couple hours at a time. Well, my questionsare do I have to take the battery off of the bike in order to charge this way or is it ok to leave attached? Also, there are two voltage settings 6v and 12v, which one should I use?
Thanks in advance!

I assume your talking about a battery tender. I bought one last week from walmart for 18 bucks and it does good. It wires on to your battery then has a quick connect plug so you dont have to take anything apart. It charges and then automatically shuts off when the battery is charged. Leave it on 12volt. I bet its a 1.5 or 2 amp?
Thanks for the fast responses everyone, I really appreciate it..
I have 2 options between amps as well 2/6 amp?? I'm guessing 2 amp will be good... please correct me if i'm worng...
I think this is an older unit and on the back it provides a warning to not over charge. What is a good time frame to leave it charging?
Should I have any other concerns??

Thanks, I'll do that and let you guys know...
Now, if the battery is then unable to hold its charge then we are looking at a couple different potential problems. I'm assuming solutions to these problems could be found in other battery related posts...

2 amp at most. 6 amp charge will destroy a small battery according to some, if not all mfgs out there. You would be wise to invest in an $18 battery tender type charger from WalMart. They are automatic and will keep the battery topped off without overcharging.
Harbor Freight tools has 1 amp battery tenders for about $5. They are way cheap, so I bought two for when the first one fails. So far mine has beenworking for two years now. Sometimes cheap can still be good.
