Default carburetor pilot screw.

I am attempting to clean my carbs using the haynes manual and the honda service manual. for some reason i cannot remove my pilot screw. the top part is completely flat there is no way to screw it or unscrew it. there is no plastic limiter cap or anything on it. has anyone else seen this?

Or you can do what I did....cut a slot in it with a dremel...be careful of the metal shavings though.

Thanks for the link. I ruined one of my pilot screws with the ol' hemastat tool. Didnt really think ahead to the fine adjusting with the bike running. I have searched everywhere for this tool and ended up with the straight flat tip tool and knew this wasnt what I needed. I thought about the dremmel slotting, however I dont want to modify anymore after buying all new pilot jets. Again I got what I needed from someone elses thread. Thanks Guys!

I just slotted mine with an air saw, and use a good old carb adjusting tool with a straight bit.

I used a 22 caliber shell to remove mine, you slide it over the "D" shaped portion of the pilot screw then squeeze the shell with needle nose pliers. Before you do this you will want to spray the screws with a good penetrating oil so it turns out smoother. Once out then you can slot the head of the screw with a dremel.
