Default bike dies after hard riding

i was riding my bike for about 45 min. got to the highway and starting riding a little harder than normal. i stop at a trafic light and my bike idle normal no problem. decided to go a little faster. after i got off this one exit and my bike started idling wierd so i put in reserve gas and it run fine until it started shuting off when in neutral after going fast.
i got a cbr f2 does reserve limits the amount of gas your bike gets? or what? i dont get it?

Reserve doesn't limit it as long as the valves on your petcock are clear. Besides you mentioned it started acting funny before you switched to reserve

Yeah, reserve opens up a fuel pickup that sits lower in the tank, which should still be submerged in fuel.

you've got less than a half gallon on reserve on these bikes - which means if you're riding hard, you might only have 8-10 miles on reserve. Reserve is "get to a gas station" mode, not "keep on riding".

Your whole description sounds exactly like when I'm running low on fuel and have had to switch to reserve.

Use the odometer as an indicator of how much you've run on that tank - 4 gallon tank = 3.6 gallons on "on" position, and .4gal on reserve. @ 34-38mpg (spirited and city driving) means you should get 120-135miles to a tank before hitting reserve. I've stretched to 160miles on a easy cruising day without a ton of high revving moments.

one other thing - if your float levels are set incorrectly, it is possible you may be running the bike hard enough to where the carbs are drinking faster than the floats are letting fuel in.
