its starting to get nice here in michigan so i decided to go start up my bike but the battery was dead. i made a stupid mistake by using an old car battery charging with the switch broke off so its stuck on fast charge. i left it on for maybe 20 minutes and i went back out and the battery was smoking and very hot and the sides were bulged out. i think i overcharged it. i took it off my bike and set it outside in case it blew up or something. i only had the battery for a month then i put it away for the winter so its a brand new battery. is it still good to use or did i screw myself out of 60 bucks?

 

I am no battery expert but i do believe you screwed yourself out of 60 bucks. I would never put that battery back on my bike Also for future reference, and someone can correct me if i am wrong; but even though these bike batteries are 12Volt batteries they are lower amperage batteries so they need to be charged at a lower setting on a battery charger than car batteries do. I know you can get away with it occasionally, but from what i have heard, you are only suposed to charge them on a low 12Volt setting or a 6Volt trickle charge setting.

However the safest thing that i have heard to do is to charge it just eneough to start the bike safely and then just ride it around for a while because the bikes charging system is best equiped for these low amperage batteries.

dude, this really shouldn't be a question. A battery like that probably will cease to function at this point. If you throw it in the bike and actually get it started I'm sure you'll do some damage to your charging system or at the very least spill acid around in there. Buy a new battery, and then take another 40 and buy a working battery charger. chalk it up to a lesson learned. Batteries can fail simply by being unsecured in the battery tray and being allowed to vibrate. Being overheated to the point of swelling? This is a no-brainer.

what part number do i use to buy one form napa or auto zone or somethin like that so i dont have to get one from the stealership

 

just go to napa and tell them you need a bike batery my one fork wor my jet sky also jejejej cheap bastard switch batery every time i ride o go to the water jejejejejej but keep batery charged and do your self a favor get you a battery tender for 15 or 20 bucks at wallmart
if you want i can call my napa store and ask about the batery
