Anybody built a 637cc F2?

Um, I am tring to be polite as possible but cams are not up for discussion if this was my build. Basic engine building needs to be a start to finish per-thought out build. Not a half *** approach to trying to make any power. Did you notice that the pressed in 900 sleeves was only making 99RWHP(mine almost does that with my stock motor already), where as stock 900rr with some jetting can easily gain you 130RWP??? What is wrong with this picture? Jetting and 900(695cc) slugs only gain 99RWP because they are more than likely running stock F2 cams and not the 125hp like the 900rr is easily capable of. Why? The stock F2 cams have smaller lobes than the OEM 900rr cams. The larger the cams, more air comes into the cylinder to burn fuel, more air/fuel mixture burnt equals more power, more power means higher RWHP. So you must find cams with larger lobes that will fit the F2/F3 heads or your build is going to a bust of money and time. Jetting or 900rr carbs won't do if you don't do cams. You will also need to purchase adjustable cam sprockets for the valve-timing issue.

I have most of the parts and run out of time due to other projects('73 CB450 Street Tracker, & a '75 Yamaha Xs650). Plus buying a house is very money and time consuming. I do plan on finishing the 637 this winter.

Wow, this is an old thread. I'm sure plenty other people have said this, but you're better off buying a faster stock bike. Just like when I asked my mechanic how hard it would be to put a turbo in my F2. For the amount of money and/or time it takes, you can have a better stock bike that's faster and maybe even prettier. But then again, some people a bit of a glutton for pain.
I have a faster/newer bike (08 CBR 1000RR) that I like that is street only, and I'm slowly rebuilding a faster/newer bike (06 CBR 600RR) that was wrecked, going to be track only, but I friggin love my old, outdated, overweight, underpowered, rattlecanned spraybombed 94 CBR 600 F2!!! Because we're gearheads etc we're always think of ways to make whatever we have faster, better, lighter etc.

2 or 3 solid days of uninterrupted work and I could have the 06 together and ready but I just cant get into it. All I think about is the F2! If its nice enough weather to ride the 08 1000 I'm usually in the garage tinkering with the F2. I'll finish the 06 this winter if I have enough firewood. Fist pound to you, squale147!
