Anybody built a 637cc F2?
Sweet! I just get bored over the winter and like to tinker. i have already done the GSXR inverted fork swap w/ 6 piston brakes, Fox twin clicker rear shock, F23 conversion, Renthol Bar mounts(made the mounts on the bracket), Yoshi race header and exhaust. This is what I do over the winter. I just wonder any problems from it might not being streetable?
I beat on my bike on the twisties(hence the inverted forks w/ 6piston brakes, fox rear suspension, F23 conversion and the Yoshi Race headers and exhaust) and love my bike. I still love the saying 'Bikes should be built, not bought' motto. It is the greatest feeling when you pass R1's on the twisties with them wearing full leathers and knowing you are way under powered to them and riding an outdated machine.I could go out and buy a new bike, but it wouldn't be a 'Ratted Out Streetfighter' that fits my exact needs and it keeps asking for more.
That is why I would like to do more, but would it be 'Streetable'?
I can respect that. I value that about every bike I'm on, it's always been well maintained and serviced by myself, frequently with modifications and attention delivered by myself.
I can't really speak on the matter, but I know some one you can call.
Doc Browns Motorcycles here in portland Oregon. The owner is a former AMA racer and honda factory rider from back in the 80's. He's got an F2 big bore kit juts lieing around his shop, and that grumpy old **** would be able to help you.
Start the conversation with telling him you heard he has that kit though, then follow it up with the questions. If you ask questions first he'll just grump you right off the phone.
Ask specifically for Jean (The Doc himself).

Well I know the F4i Intake cams will work on the intake side and swapping the F2 intake cam to the exhaust is what some do for a cheap fix for racing cams.
I have a working motor on the bike all ready. But want a winter project. Supposedly the F4i pistons are 2mm over the the F2 size and would only need at that point the case bored.

I've got a F2 engine I'm rebuilding and I need to bore out the pistons (rust got in on the #3 cylinder)
I think the rust is too far into the cylinder for just a hone job... so I think I'll need to bore them out and I have heard that you can use f4i pistons as above and I just want to make sure before I do it... I'd rather buy some used f4i pistons for $100 instead of a brand new set of wisecos for $500.
Thanks!
