On the front you have to loosen the pinch bolts on each fork tube and then remove the bolt on the right side and then pull the axle out to the left.On the rear just loosen and remove the axle nut and then remove the axle. You may have to loosen the chain adjustment nuts.I have never really drop the engine out yet but I don't think it would be that difficult.I'm sure jns can answer that for you.

UPDATE:
Spent all day Friday and Saturday working.
Carbs were all clean, so I put those back in today. Also purchased a new air filter and spark plugs. All installed. Cleaned up the frame and sanded down all the over spray from the previous paint fiasco.
old plugs
Installed new Throttle cables since the old ones stuck. This was as hard as everyone says it is.... spent a good hour installing and adjusting cables till it was perfect.
stripped and sanded down the fuel tank. Found bondo... Oh well, its just a small spot.
Bought the helmet lock like JNS suggested. That will be convienent. Also replaced the choke lever. The old one broke off and I was using a screwdriver to push the nub in the mornings.
I ended up buying new front fairings. Those I test fit and primered today. Tomorrow hopefully I can finish paint on them and the fuel tank. Also got a new zero gravity windshield!
I test fit the rear left side fairing and seat. I gotta say I like how its turning out. Also I got myself a new Yoshi exhaust for the bike.
More work (and beers) tomorrow and next week. I am hoping to get the bike on the road by friday for work and show off! Next update will be finished product!

Nice Artie, looks like things are coming along!
Though, I am a little heartbroken that you didn't by MY Zero Gravity windscreen, brand new, for $45!! .....ok, no I'm not, I'm totally kidding. I'm actually very glad that I haven't sold it, and glad that I haven't sold the carbs, gas tank, rearsets, polished stator cover, and some other stuff, because I changed my mind about the second F2 - I'm gonna rebuild it and put it back on the street!
Anyway, keep us posted with your progress!

So I had pulled the bottom radiator hose and drained the coolant out of the bike. Put the hoses back and filled the it back up with coolant. keep in mind my temp gauge is broken on the cluster. i started the bike and left the cap off for a minute or 2 to let the air bubbles out. after is stopped bubbling, i put the cap on. It smelled like something was burning so i shut off the motor. and there was a bit of smoke coming from the radiator and smoke came out when i took the cap off. not a lot of smoke almost vapor, but I was worried.
What powers the temp gauge? It has no light on like the rest of the cluster.
I also noticed that the reservoir did not drain when i pulled the hose.
I did a search for the proper way to drain the coolant, and it seems like i'm doing it right. I wish my temp gauge worked so i could see how hot it was. is there another way to see the temp? digital thermometer?
any help would be appreciated.

Just read through your thread. Seems like you have a mechanically sound bike that just needs a lot of exterior work. Good job on the work so far, made a lot of progress.
It's only a small point but I noticed the float bowls on your carbs are the wrong way around. Did you change them after you cleaned the carbs? The drain screws should point to the outside of the bike on each side for easy access. Also, what did you do about that air filter, get a new stock or K&N? That one looked shot.

I saw that too, I switched the bowls around the right way. good eye!
I ended up getting a new stock air filter. The old one was destroyed. garbage now!
I started the bike this weekend and it sounded great. I just need to fix this temperature gauge.
