Default 94 F2 California Emissions removal?

I've got a friends bike here and told him I would look into getting it running. I pulled the tank to find that it is a California Emissions legal bike. Or.....was.......some of the stuff has been stripped off and to be honest, I'm not really sure what. I asked him about it and he said that the guy he bought it from made a ****-poor attempt at removing the emissions controls, for what reason we do not know. We suspect he was trying to improve power but most people know, it doesn't make that much of an improvement. I took off the airbox cover to find that there wasn't an air filter either, the gas looked foggy like it was old so I assume the carbs need a good cleaning.

The real question is, what can I remove or replace to remove the emissions controls, I am not sure what is missing so is there any way I can just convert it to a 49-state legal bike? It looks to me like there are 2-3 hoses not hooked to anything near the underside of the carbs, I haven't taken a real close look yet, as it was 20 degrees in the barn and I didn't have time to let the heat come on.

You got it! I didn't realize he had all the parts. He just called me a few hours ago and told me, I thought my only option was to remove it all or start piecing it back together via Ebay and parts-yards. The parts bin just arrived about 5 minutes ago but I haven't had a chance to check everything out.

The carbs are definitely gonna need a cleaning, probably new plugs or atleast swap some decent used ones I have layin around from my F3.

Weird.....odd that you saw this.

Jeff,

Check out my removal process here:

Still have things to add to the above pages, but this is a rarely talked about subject and I have been on a trial and error process.
