I got the oil flushed and changed, the coolant system drained, flushed, and filled with Engine Ice, re-applied the safety wire to the dipstick and safety wired some additional items.

Oil drain plug now wired:

Re-wired the new oil filter, this time with the required hose clamp:

And, got the radiator cap wired:

2) Entire front-end swap from CBR 954RR.
3) Installing fork leg uppers from '94 F2, into my current sliders, to at least obtain more adjustability.

Clearly, the last option would be the cheapest, but obviously, if I stumbled upon a sweet deal for one of the aformentioned full front-ends, I would have to seriously consider it - what the hell am I talking about? If I scored one of those cheap, I would just DO IT!!! The USD forks would be vastly superior, not to mention better brakes.
Another consideration, of course, is losing the ability to contest Superstock and Classic race events, if I went with the front-end swap, though, swapping back and forth is not too much work, really.
i would not put a set of USD forks on your bike. the best and most economical swap would be to go with F3 front end. honda designed these bikes to have the forks flex some under load, and it worked very well for the people racing the bikes. if you put a stiffer front end on it, the frame will then flex under load which isn't what you want. it's not like you're dealing with a twin spar aluminum chassis. i've talked with several of the best suspension tuners in the country about this.

with that being said, i've always been curious about a F4 front end. still conventional, just a little bigger than F3.

a good set of brakes on a F3 or F2 with the rotors that you're running are more than capable to win championships with. guys do it every year in WERA.

you need a shock. on the track the stock shock can seem ok, until it gets hot (which it will) then it will have the tendency to want to eject you.

if you're interested i have two shocks about to go on the chopping block. a fox that was taken off my F2 and an ohlins taken off an ex-ama F3.

safety wire looks good. you may want to get R-clips on your pinch bolts though so you don't have to safety wire them every time you change your tires, which will be often if you start racing.

It's interesting that you should bring this up, because I've been doing research on this, and have found the same information - I've pretty much cast out that idea. Transplanting '94 F2 uppers (which was one of my other considerations), or F3 uppers, into my sliders, will likely be as far as I go with the front end - of course I will also re-spring and setup those uppers, which goes without saying.

Yeah, tell me about it!! I WANT a shock, and I know about the increased danger of high-sides with these shocks, not to mention, I already said in earlier posts, that I can now feel the shock's shortcomings, with the front now more stable - but, having the sag set right, is the best I'll be able to do for my first excursion...there is NO WAY I'll be able to spare that kind of money, which sucks, because I REALLY want to get that taken care of as well.

Interested? Yes...Able to do something about it now? No - see above for reason!!
If that's a Fox twin clicker, made for the F2, humor me with a price, though I'm not sure if there's really any point!

We seem to be on the same page regarding a lot of items!! I am looking into r-clips! Constantly re-doing safety wire can be a drag! It never ends!

yeah, fox twin clicker. 350

do you still have the stock header on the bike too?

i have one spare M4 header, as well as a full ti yosh system that i've never mounted. the head pipes are crazy light. only one i've ever seen. don't think i'll ever part with it tho.

Oh, how I would love to do the twin clicker!! For my "first of the season" track day, I don't think there's any way I could swing it, but I'll be back at the same track, for a track school with Jason Pridmore, in late August - I just might get with you again, in the event that I've got some more "spendable" cash available, and see if you still have it.

Yes, stock header...that is another thing that I would LOVE to change out - even with enough spare change, race headers for the F2 don't seem to pop up for sale, but once in a while. Which one is it you don't think you could part with, the M4 header, or the full Yosh system?

I'm also enjoying following your progess. What track are you going to? Keep an eye on ebay for fox shock, I just scored one for $106, of course I'm going to send it out for a rebuild. If I could get it pass the wife I would buy "eamoto"s F2. It has a fox and D&D full system on it. $1000 complete bike minus fairings. That would make all kinds of spare parts.

My first two dates are at Heartland Park in Topeka, KS. Other excursions this season will include Gateway Motorsports Park in St. Louis, Hallet Motor Racing Circuit in Jennings, OK, Motorsports Park Hastings in Nebraska, and maybe Mid America Motorplex in Pacific Junction, IA.

$106 is quite a score!! I need to check there more often...even at that price, I don't really have the extra dough just yet, but honestly, that would be hard to pass up, even if I had to knock over a liquor store!!

I just realized I failed to post pics of the new grips - I know, they're just grips, but I love these Renthal road race grips!! They are a harder compound than my last Pro-Grip units, so they're not going to be "rubbing off" so to speak - and, they are a gray solid color, that I honestly think makes the bike look much better cosmetically, basically due to the other ones being so "worn ugly"!!

Also, I guess I never realized how much those last grips had slid and degraded, and how much I had to twist to throttle up and down - the throttle twists so much more freely now, I swear it feels like riding a different bike!
