we finally went through it, and we are about 99% sure that it is the cdi. one is on its way. ill let you know how it turns out

 

looks like 99% wasnt enough. it wasnt the cdi, only a few buck gone though. we are going to check all the wires. now we think it is just a brocken connection

 

well, here's the deal. after a month of trying to figure out what it was, we decided to start with every wire and see which one wasnt making contact. we pulled the front fairing and started checking wires. there was a problem with the high beam in the past, but it checked out fine. i was pulling to check the wires and 2 of the clips came off. the red ones from the kill/run switch just popped off. we connected them, and boom, it sparked when we tried to fire it. so we hooked it up and it started. of course we took it for a ride even though it was dark and foggy, it had just been too long. remember to check the easy stuff first. if you dont, youll never forget again after something like this happens>

 

could have been pulse generators...I'm waiting for some, same symptoms, all wires check out!!
