91 CBR Temp Gauge Help
#11
So I grounded the gauge and it moves. Which is good. However, I had to completely disassemble the cluster and when I pulled the temp gauge the needle rotated as i turned it but never went back to the pin. It just stayed where I left it. I'm not sure if that is normal for temp gauges or not. :/
Ahh - then I confused 2 new F2 owner's intro threads.
Sorry bout that.
but, to help you out, yeah pull the cluster out and ground at the gauge first - see if it operates. Then lets go from there.
Sidestand bulb being lit is one thing, but weird cause I thought signal to light that bulb, should kill the motor as well. Lemme revisit the wiring schematic.

hmm. I recently had to do the same test on the temp gauge in my truck. what I think happens is that when powered up, grounding the gauge moved it, but ungrounding would let it return to the normal location. But if the truck is hot - the needle moves, and if I kill power the needle stays where it is, until I put the key back in and it resets.
Have you reapplied power to the bike without the cluster grounded to see if it returns to normal?
