Default 1st Time on Slicks !

Went to Shenandoah Circuit this past weekend with RL Motorcycle Xcitement. Bought a set of Bridgestone slicks a couple weeks ago from Quinten Mize of Mize Mobile. I've heard for years F2's love wearing slicks. Set the cold pressure as recommended, put on the tire warmers. Took a few laps to scrub them in. After that I was flying. Holy hell, I think half of it was the confidence just from knowing I had slicks and the other half was the tire its self. I consistently was doing 1:48's and even did a couple 1:47's. The only time I got passed was during the first lap, being careful and getting the tires up to full temp. Then I would catch up to them. They would hold me up in the turns then pull away from me on the straights. Loved those tires I will definitly buy another set when these are toast. I got the soft front which is the middle of the 3 compound and the med rear which is the hardest of the 3 compounds. Have to get 4 days out of these. And I almost for got, Chuck Banks of Motocycle Center of Maryland was there doing dyno runs for $25. I figured what the hell, may as well. Chuck says how much you think its got, one fellow says 78hp, Chuck says 82hp, I said 88hp (I hope). Then he let'er rip, watching a dyno run is awesome. Then he hand me the print out, 85.99hp. I know not all dynos read the same and some read a little high but the curve is real flat and smooth and everyone that was there said it sounded real strong. Any way had a blast, beautiful weather, etc. Cant wait to go back mid July.

Sounds like you had a blast! Man, I can't wait to get back on the track, especially since I've currently got nothing to ride on the street!!

Sounds awesome! I will defiantly keep those in mind on my next tire purchase. Also, great numbers on the dyno...not to mention the price!

Chuck was doing dyno runs til about 10pm. Seen 179hp BMW. RC51 Holy Crap you should've heard that thing WOW! It only pulled 115hp. About the tire thing, Quinten said good luck finding race tires that last 4 days. I told him I need tires that HAVE to last 4 days. I bought what he recommended. He also said "You have to realize they aren't going to stick like the softer compounds." I understood and no complaint whatsoever. I'm going to pull my wheels, take them to Quinten so he can analyze the wear etc. His shop is just a "belch and a holler" out of my way to work.

120ish isn't too far off on a RC51 - they weren't super high hp bikes, but they had tons of that down low V-4 torque. I think they make almost 20lb-ft more torque right off of idle than a comparable inline 4 will, and then flatten out in midrange.
