Ive never been On a forum before, not sure on rules and that, I tried to load them for this site but page was not found. So, please, if I do something wrong, don’t rip me a new one.
Ive taken on a project To keep myself sane. (Although will possibly have and adverse effect)
I have a CBR 600 F2 1992 which has been rat’d And street fighter’d by previous owners. I brought for a bargain at £200 as it was a non runner, due to the started spigot bosses breaking which seems to be common. Matey though it was stuffed. I look over the electrics and got it bump started after a few hours. Engine is smooth, and thanks to a fairly new scorpion exhaust, sound pretty. So, I have got a blooming bargain!
I know how I’m going to fix the broken bosses so don’t need a hand with that. ( if anyone is wondering, I can do another thread on that fix. No welding required!)
Im hoping for some advise and support through the project and to make some new CBR loving friends.
My first need for help is this, has anyone changed the rad for a
narrower one? It’s almost the widest thing on the bike?!
Hi all.

Welcome. Reading the rules is rule #1, and you've already violated it, so we are going to have to put you on double secret probation already. Just kidding.

Sounds like a fun project. Yes, start another thread on the broken boss fix (with lots of pics). That would be interesting.

Cheers guys and look forward to meeting you all
Is the old one broken or do you just want to swap it out?
Changing it out shouldn't be too hard, you'll have to fabricate some mounts and see if the hoses reach.
biggest problem might be making/find a fan that fits the new one.
And good radiators can get expensive, so there is that too.
I know, first disciplinary on the way. It’s says the page can’t be reached, so is there another set of rules I can be entertained by somewhere?
the rad seems to work fine. Only had it running 10 mins to make sure it was worth the strip down and re build.
It’s just it’s not the prettiest thing to look at, majority of it is ok but some corroded section, just no.
im thinking of making some sort of frame work that will bolt onto each side, then connect behind the front wheel. Sort of side fairings but Mad Max style.
The first picture is the colour scheme I’m going for. The 2nd picture, under the seat, the framework and mesh, is the idea I’m having to hide messy top section of engine and radiator... weight is my main concern with this idea 😕
