Hi bob, thanks for the intrest. I'm looking for a 87-90 17" X 2.5 " its the only to fit w/out converting to complete front end( forks-triple-cal....) so as to give me some choice on radiels. Only 1 make in 120/80-16 (AvonST at$164). And to convert rear the easiest cheapest to match. Learning as I go, so any info or advice is wellcomed !

well, you cant get radials in a lot of 110/80/17 or 130/80/17 tire sizes, and you CANNOT safely put a 120 on the 2.5" front wheel. wasted effort, just do a full F2 swap, its worth it to get 120/70/17 fronts, and 160/60/17 rears which you can get a VARIETY of good radial tires in all day.

i run 120/70 front and 160/60 rear on my stock hurricane rims and it handles great, it feels exactly like my f2 did in the turns.

you shouldnt be running those tires on those rims. I guarantee your tires are pinched on the rim. I had the same tire sizes on my last one, once I put GOOD proper size tires on, it handled like a RAZOR.

a 120 is designed for nothing smaller than a 3.0" rim, and a 160 is no narrower than a 4.0" from experience.

frankly, I dont want to call you stupid, but putting those tires on that narrow rim IS quite dangerous, and actually isnt a very good idea. if you brought that to my shop, you'd be signing a liability waiver if I had to do anything at all besides carbs.

thats the sizes that were on it when i got it and havent switched the tires. Ive got 2500 miles on them so far and have no complaints. I plan on switching front ends and eventually the swing arm to run newer wider wheels for wider tires. I cant stand the look of the stock size tires that look like moped tires plus the very limited options.
