Want to improve her a little
Earlier this year, I bought an 88 Hurricane 600 and named her Irene. She ran super rich (15 MPG was my best for a tank of gas), stalled below 3k RPMs, and she was missing all the fairings except the front cowl.
She still isn't pretty but that isn't why I'm here.
Since I bought the bike, my girlfriend has been insisting on coming with me everytime I take Irene out. I had (have) no problem with this until I discovered I had blown my rear shock. I'm not small (6'2, 250 lb) and she isn't skinny so it wasn't that hard to believe it happened. So what all can I put on to replace my shock (bolt up fitment, no cutting or making of brackets)? I want something that can handle a little more weight.
Also where do you normally buy your 520 chain/sprocket sets? I don't want to end up buying a set that won't fit

The stock spring is definitely much too soft.. I'm about 220 and my bike rode like garbage on the stock suspension. I was lucky enough to find a Fox twin clicker shock on Ebay to replace mine with, but I'm not aware of any currently produced shock upgrades for the bike. Keep an eye out on Ebay though if you're looking for an upgrade as they do show up occasionally. Otherwise you can do as trippmann suggested and put a stiffer spring on the stock shock.
