I have an 87 cbr 600. I have a shift kit in it. Lately it has been a little harder to shift from 1st to 2nd. Today after I changed the oil, everything went wrong. I shifted into 1st and it clunked in a little harder than normal. I attribute it to the oil change. After making some clutch adjustments it wouldn't go to 2nd. It finally did but now it is impossible to find neutral. I shut the bike off and shifted from 1st to neutral, like I do when this happens, and I couldn't find it. I finally did find neutral but it seemed to be between 2nd and 3rd. Now when I start up and shift to 1st it seems like it is in 2nd or 3rd when I roll on the gas and start moving. I got back in neutral and shifted up to 2nd and it seemed like I was in 1st or at least it pulled like 1st. Is there a gear selector pin or something that could be worn or broken that caused the gears to be out of order? I have all my gears but they are not where they are supposed to be or so it seems. Any help is much appreciated. I drained the oil again and removed the right side case and didn't see anything out of the ordinary. There are no metal flakes or shavings in the oil or in the pan. Thanks for anyones help. Cheers, Jason
me thinks your shift dogs maybe bent or worn. if your clutch plates look okay and nothing is coming out with the oil, then this is something i would look at. let's see what the service manual says.
