what do you mean the exhaust is blowing? if it were mine I would just let it run for quite a while to burn off the oil. after a good 10 minutes of warmup and a good ride it should be set. glad it all worked out for you. and yeah, adjusting the valves is certainly a feel thing, hard to describe to someone. once you get the hang of it its pretty easy though. you try the double check method I was saying?

oh, and you dont really want to rev it like that with the sync tool hooked up, could suck the stuff into the motor

The exhaust is leaking slightly where the 4 downpipes meet a little..

Will give it a go running it for longer tomorrow and go for a ride to burn off the oil.. have read about it catching fire on peoples cars before though!!

Good point about the sync tool - however thought it would be ok as they are metal tubes rather than liquid...

I did do the double check method - couple of times it was lucky I did!

Cheers

never heard about it catching fire. glad to hear the double check worked out for you. I know I was pretty disappointed to get the thing all back together to try it out and it was still noisy. man, that taught me to do the double check method! good luck with everything

hey guys im having the exact same clicking sound as you on my 97 F3 with 26k miles. my clicking isnt as bad tho sometimes it actually goes away.

you guys think i should adjest my valves? i cant see how they would get messed up. or do you think maybe i just need to change the spark plugs.

i am definately hoping its not a damaged cam thats just ridiculous i wouldnt even know how to diagnose something like that

I would start with the easy stuff like the plugs, but yours might be the cam chain tensioner if it is going away at times.
