Yep. Getting on to winter time for us Northern Hemisphere folk. In the past, whenever I winterized I was living in the fridge and usually storing outside/in a unheated shed.

This winter the bike will have the privledge of an underground garage. Living on the west coast, we don't really get much freezing weather, but it is rather moist. The garage is not heated, but it doesn't really get that cold, maybe 10C or so.

What do people recommend as steps for winterizing. I am planning on draining the float bowls and filling the tank and adding some Sta-Bil. I might be able to get my hands on a swing arm stand to get the back tire up. Anything else?

A battery tender would be a good idea if you don't have one. I like to keep mine on stands both F&R when it's not being used for awhile, but I don't know if it really matters. The fuel & battery are probably the most likely things to cause problems. If you keep a cover on it make sure it's well ventilated or take it off & air it out often so the moisture doesn't rust anything.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention I was going to put the battery on a tender. Of course. I picked up a 'special' ventilated cover for the bike, pretty sure I can get 2 bikes under it haha. Makes it nice and easy to get on and take off though.

I figured you probably had that one figured out lol. I left my bike w/o a tender on it the first winter and was buying a new battery the next spring

I wish we had the weather you have! Its very rainy here. Roads here are very twisty and not always in the best repair. There are always lots of bikes going down in the winter here.

Same with me.. even though I'm in California it gets down into the 20-30s and ices over & even snows here a few times a year. I still take the bike out during the winter, but only during the day in good weather.. no commuting to work anymore until next summer.
