Default THINKING TO BUY A CBR600F 1990

I am a new rider since I got station in camp Pendleton, which is a big base. I want to get a bike, also I don’t want to spend too much money in a new bike, and I don’t have too much money to spend, so i was looking around and I found this bike.
"Stock CBR, spent most of its life in a garage! Excellent condition! One fuel seal leak due to storage. $2,000 OBO "

so i went to see it , I look really good , the guy got it 17 year ago , because he is in the navy he did not ride a lot , he put only 9000 miles.
he show me the leak which was close to the first piston and he turn in on and it sounded good but when i press the throttle the bike when off , we did it again and the same happen .
So my question is any idea what cut it been?
Also it is cheap to fix that bike?
What do you guys think? Should I but it?
Thank for your time

thats way too much money for an old 600 F. My bike did something like you are describing when the carbs were clogged up.

That bike for $1000 ... It looks like it's in Excelent condition ! as long as it's mechanicaly good, that would be a hell of a deal.

just from the pics it looks like an excellent speciman.it's a rarity to find old bikes in very good condition and with low miles.

if that were to be my first bike i would pass. the reasoning behind it is not the cost of the bike but that it is in such good condition that i would be hard pressed to ride it. i'd rather spendless money on a ratted looking bike that is mechanically sound. at least if anything happens to it asthetically, i won't be too bummed because the bodywork would be trash anyway. it's like getting a cherry car when you're 16. and with that, sh*t will happen. the bodywork on the bike alone is worth a several bills.

with the rest of the money left over, you could get a tuneup or riding gear or whatever motorcycle related thing.

That bike is clean and has low miles--Its probably worth close to $2k..Considering it needs some carb work I would see if I could steal it for $1500.See if a shop can install some frame sliders for you--will help with fairing damage should you drop it. Great first bike.

I think 2 grand is too much. I bought mine for 1100 and the only issue was a leaky fork. My fix was only $25.00. My 89 is my first bike and I think it has been a great bike to learn on. I have put about 4,000 miles on it since June. Find a local shop to check the bike out for you and see what they think might be the problem and how much it would cost to get it fixed. Good luck, it's a great looking bike.

I got the bike for 900, i did a tune up i change pretty much everything , and I put some sea foam in the tank and crankcase , but I don’t know what happen, but every time go from idle revs to fast I take a long time , is like a late reaction , I cannot ride that way , I am going to take it to the shop and see what they said . Any idea what’s wrong?
