Default temp guage not moving

just got my hurricane project running good enough to go down the road today. i noticed my temperature guage didnt move, and was wondering what would be the easiest way to diagnos. or the easiest way to figure out if my water pump is good. it didnt get burning hot when i ran it (even tho it was 20 degrees out) but i would still like to know what temp its at. and yes, there is coolant in it...

If it's 20 degrees out the bike just might not be getting hot enough to be in the temp gauge's range. The digital gauge on my Kawi doesn't even turn on until the bike hits 104 and if I'm riding it in 20 degree weather, I'm usually lucky if it gets up to 150 on the highway.

Mine doesn't come on until it is almost too hot. I have heard that from other owners as well.

There is a green/blue wire that connects to the thermosensor which causes the temp gauge to operate. Disconnect this wire from the thermosensor ( located just below the filler cap ). Ground this wire to the frame momentarily with the key on and see if the temp. gauge changes position. If it does then the thermosensor is probably bad. You can also check the continuity of the thermosensor to ground. You should have some continuity to ground depending on coolant temp. Frame=ground. good luck!
