Which caliper are you talking about? Did you push the old pad in with a screw driver first to push the pistons in? Then on the outside of the caliper theres 2 plugs, that you need to pop out. Under them is the caliper pins, lossen them, then just pull them out with some needle nose pliars or something.

the fronts are allen heads, 5mm if I recall right on mine. I still dont understand the 12mm bolts mounting the right caliper, and a 5mm along with something of a different size screw/bolt on the left caliper holding it together. least they're easy to work on.

I think I know the flathead screws you mean... they cover the allen headed pins. I use an impact driver. Works a treat.

mine has these allen head screws behind those. on mine they're 5mm size. the rear has that 10mm bolt holding a clip in that keeps two sliding pins.

They are there to keep crud out of the sockets of the allen head sliders, so I'd tend to refit them, especially if you are in a damp environment. Must be heaps of them around on damaged calipers at wreckers.

screw those things, I'll find me some rubber/plastic grommets that fit the holes better and dont seize up in them. do the same job but less pain in my ****.
