Looks familiar rrasco. Been that way here the last few days. I did manage to ride to Lowes the other night inbetween storms though. I needed bolts to attach the Chain guard. I am cutting the fender off of it and just using the guard. Needed the bolts. Got them though. Just have to cut the ends off. They are a tad too long. I will still have the pics of the cowl up though.

That's a modded airtech. Someone riveted some brackets on it to attach it. Rather ingenious, if you ask me. The airtech site says to use velcro. I had a whole set of those airtech plastics, and let me tell you, they sucked. No mounting tabs, no holes drilled. Big pieces of fiberglass crap. Well, I had the whole set except the underseat plastic. They make it sound so easy to install. "You can have these installed in minutes!!" I chucked them on eBay. Came with the bike when I bought it. The bozo wouldn't spend the money on a new cowl, but bought an almost complete set of fairings with the upper from airtech. All it needed was a cowl.

yeah, i was gonna say it looks like someone made some brackets and riveted them on there, then painted over them. pretty good idea and looks pretty good too.

 

Gotcha. Well i knew it atleast had brackets. Fits perfectly. It looks like it came that way. The brackets seem to be made for it. Whoever did it, did a good job. I just want to get my seat recovered now. That is the only thing that bothers me about the bike. I would do it myself, cept i dont have a air staple gun or whatever. I have a staple gun, but dont think it will go through the plastic. I havent got quotes to get it covered yet. I need to do that. I want something other than vinyl that isnt so slippery.

 

hey cbr..... where in IL you from? i'm in southern wisconsin and am looking for someone to ride with...also..i noticed your seat was torn...i have a mint stock seat for your bike...mine came with a corbin and a stock seat.... so if your interested in it. lemme know.. i also have the exact some rear seat cowl you have with the tabs.... i dont really like the look, plus i like putting my girl on the bike. lemme know i'm in Lake Geneva Wi, area......

Hey everyone,

I am just trying to find out what it is that you guys are wanting. I see that someone posted on how to make a seat cowl, and it looks like it is similiar to the Katana seat (where it is one piece). Does anyone sell, or would anyone want someone to sell the "solo look", not just a rear cap? (I attached a picture of the concept) These are in ABS Plastic by the way (Just like stock parts)

I think it would be great to get the stock peices in abs, since maier seems to have discontinued theirs. sucks, I was planning on getting some over the summer (as $$ permits) but I doubt I will find any by then.

 

If I didn't see another one with the exact same tabs on it, I would agree with you. But I have the same exact piece, same brackets on it. Came with the bike but it's unpainted. And it doesn't look like the tabs were 'added'.
