Another 600RR tail swap
So after checking out some of the other swaps, mostly demented's, I decided to do my own, but a bit different. I sourced a tail and received it today and started figuring out how it was going to sit and where I was going to cut the frame and bend it. That's when I realized that our seat can be reused with the RR tail (with a little modification of course) and I wouldn't have to worry about mounting the RR seat.
This is pretty much how I bought my F3. I originally was told it was a '95, but it turns out it's a '97.
Trying on the new tail.
Some trimming of the seat. I cut pretty much everything on the red line (my awesome paint skills!)
Some trimming on the tail. I ended up cutting out a strip about 2" wide from the back of the front seat holem again on the red line.
It's almost there. Just a lot of going back and forth, trim a little at a time and see how it fits. I had to cut off the bolts that hold the strap across the seat, but left the mounting points for the seat itself.
It fits pretty good where I want it here. I just need to shape the foam at the top and recover the seat.
Here are a few mock up pics to give you an idea of how it will look.
Now I just need to cut and bend the frame and fab up some mounting points for the tail.
