I just got my 87 honda cbr 600 and was riding today. It seems to run ok, the rpm's go and down a bit while at idle though. I noticed when I was riding, that in first gear at about 4000-5000 rpm it seems to lose some power then pick up again. This is my first sports bike (previously a 84 honda sabre owner). I have read on here that they are different then riding a cruiser type bike, so I wanted to see if this was normal or if there may be something wrong. Any help is greatly appreciated.

The cbr600 doesn't doesn't really produce significant power below 7000 rpm. You need to keep it spinning to get the goods.
