Replacing Chain, Need Suggestions...
So I am going to replace my chain & sprockets, where is the best place to buy? Looking to save money so also wondering if there is a way to replace without a chain cutter. Also any tips to make it happen as smooth as possible.
sumofallparts.net has a 520 sprocket set. You can use a die grinder to cut the old one off and the new one to length, just wrap the chain up in a bag while cutting so you don't get metal shavings in it. Get a rear stand, T-rex on ebay has a good one for cheap, it will let you get all the weight off the rear so you can adjust a lot easier.
I am finding different options for the chain in different link counts, like a 100, 110, and a 126. Any suggestions? And why do they make different options on this? Thanks.
i am about to change mine to and was just wondering if their was a better sprocket combo to get some more oh **** power without losing much top end.
in case you are using a lenthened (drag) rear arm. Not sure what count mine was, it was just part of their kit. It was a 0/+3 front rear, it took about 10mph out if each gear so first dropped to around 45ish at 12k, cruising at 65 is around 6k now.
On the accleration, woohoo, makes it able to come up in 1st and 2nd now, with just throttle, top speed dropped however, its like 135 now, not done on the street, at a top speed run at RMR in SLC, UT. I don't think any of us will be doing 135+ on a daily basis, and if you are it was nice knowing you, see you in heaven.
