hi all do you kind paople know if the rear shock off an cb600 fit my cbr 600 fl . i ask becouse mine is shot and they look the same but i have only seen a picture off the cb600 shock please help if you can

 

I don't think it will but even if it would the performance of it would be way less than what you want. you can find one on ebay if you look real good.

 

If you're willing to spend the money, Ohlins actually makes a purpose built shock for our Hurricanes. I know this because mine has one on it.

 

moneywise, the ohlins is a hefty chunk of change. not to mention if they even still make it for the old cbr's anymore. i tried looking for one a few years back and every dealer told me "no". there are other aftermarket options beside ohlins. nitron and hyperpro or hagon to name a few. if you look on ebay hard enough you can find oem stockers for sale or find one at the motorcycle salvage. too bad the stockers aren't rebuildable.

 

I think I'll email Ohlins and confirm, because I think they can be had. If nothing else, I'm pretty sure you could adapt an F2/3 shock to fit.

 

f2/f3 won't work properly because overall length is shorter. even with the 10mm height adjustment it still comes up a bit short.

you can email to confirm availability. i tried years back when they even listed the model on their website only to be told that they were not producing that model shock anymore. they were only selling what stock they had left.

now the other thing that can be done along the lines of using a f2/f3 shock is to take it to a reputable ohlins shock rebuilder and have them swap out the piston shaft for a longer one and a longer spring because the parts are still available. i believe the shock body is the same length aside from the piggyback reservoir. i can't quite remember and will have to check my notes. in anycase, this will make everything correct lenghwise.

but the money spent getting the shock and making the changes is more that just getting a competing aftermarket unit, hyperpro or nitron. the hyperpro in many ways is comperable to ohlins with all the adjustments including hydraulicspring preload and remote reservoir. don't get me wrong, i would've loved to have gotten my hands on an ohlins... because it's an ohlins. i don't know, maybe the name conjures up something in my mind regardless of whether it is better or not.
