Default PLEASE HELP: should i get this CBR 600 hurricane

http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehi...QAdIdZ18858836

This bike has been tracked before even the ower says it hasn't. the needle on rev is broken lol. the front fork seals are gone. He even admited that he himslef just got the bike 3 weeks ago and has no time to fix it. The front break lines have no fuild in them, the break lever on handle bar is bend to ****. the engine started but there was some weird noise at start up but kinda went away after awhile.didnt look like any frame damage but its hard to tell with out driving it. The rear suspension was after market but when you push down on it didnt really come back up, i think the spring is gone. Gas Tank has rust on the inside.

I live in Toronto Canada, I want i cheap bike that i can learn on since i just got my M1. be he wants 950 for it but i was thinking more like 500 or less.
What do you guys here think. I dont mind working on the bike over this winter getting it ready for street next summer. it would be a good learning experiance but is 500 to much for it.

If its in the condition you say it is, i would look elsewhere.. You can get a bike for that price in much better condition. If you have to spenda lil more than planned to get something way nicer, do it. You wont regret it to where if you spend that on this bike and have to put $1000 in it to fix it, you coulda got something else in better condition for that price. Hope that helps. Just my 2 cents..

I would pass on that too. Like CBR1987Yellow said, for the amount you will have to spend to fix it, you can just get a better bike.

I agree with them if you aren't mechanically inclined, but if you are, $500 isn't too bad. Bleeding the brakes is a breeze, since the fluid was probably just not put back in after the steel lines were put on. The brake handle is inexpensive, rebuilding the forks is pretty easy as long as you have the manual. Cleaning the carbs is a cheap fix just takes some time. The rust in the tank can be cleaned out, or the tank replaced by one on e-Bay. The only real scare would be from the engine noise, do some more research on that problem before you make any decision. If it need a Cam Chain Tensioner it's pretty common and is almost routine maintance on these bikes. If it is a bearing of sometype I would definately pass on it.

I personally have always had late model 2000 and newer RR type bikes, so when ever I ride someones older bike I hate it. But My fiance just purchased an 87 Hurricane and I find myself taking her bike more and more.

They are a great starter bike, enough power to have some fun with, but still easy to maintain control over.

The bike looks nice.... but I would rather have a bike that was mechanically good and looked like crap, then one that looked good and ran like crap. Especially if you are just starting out riding, if you drop it and damage the plastics that bike doesn't have anything else going for it.

I'd buy it just for the plastics, especially if you have the time and knowledge to fix whats wrong.

this bike looks like a great canidate for a part out
