Peter's Rebuild/Fighter project.
Finally got a bit of time to start working on the old cbr again. For those that never seen my intro post. A few months back this arrived on my door step with a Yam FZR 750 front end, so first job was to replace that with a nice set of USD forks from a suzuki RGV250.

So that's how the CBR stood the second day. So after That i noticed I was'nt getting a spark on 1-4 coil so instead of getting on with that I decided to try out some diferent seat units. so first was a Sachs XTC seat.

I thought its not to bad but not what I'm after, so decided enough messing about time to get this bike running! SO traced the fault back to a duff Spark Unit so ordered one of them so while waiting for that I decided to check the rest of the bike over. I didn't bother much with checking the bike over as it only cost ($238|£150) .
So first step was to remove the hugger to have a closer look at this swing arm (that's covered in household gloss
)

Now it was time to remove it and have an even closer look, So undid the swing arm pivot nut then I got my first problem the pivot bolt was seized solid. Tried the normal penetrating oil, heat, big hammer and not a lot happened. So decided i'd deal with it the next day, next day came and the postie brought me a Spark unit, so fitted that to the bike and pulled all the plugs had them all lined up against the engine and frame and hit the start button, fuel pump kicked in and all 4 sparked!
So re-fitted the plugs and hit the start button again!
FIRST START - YouTube
then noticed the second problem someone had over tighten the exhaust flange and snapped the lug off, but no biggy.

So went back to this swing arm dug out an old 1/2" extension bar and a old socket that fitted nicely over the pivot bolts threads and just kept giving it a good hit and slowly it started to move. then went round the other side and tapped it back in then round the other side and so on until it finally popped out after a wee while.
So got the swing arm off and its past it sell by date, I could cut all the rot out and reinforcing, but i'd be as-well building a new one from scratch. So going to ponder what to do make or buy a replacement.
So moved onto the sorry state for a sub-frame to clean up while i decide what to do with the rear.:
