Default Nate's 1987 fighter project

Starting a build thread. Gonna be a fighter cause I'm a po-boy

Picked her up for $100 from a wild kid who maimed her. Has a good title, straight frame, swinger and forks (as far as I can tell)

Bad wheels:

Major reason the kid wrecked the bike, he rode the back brake like crazy:

Typical F1 frame cracking:

The highlighted area is where the previous owner WELDED the master link.

Tearing down:

Yes. That is a broken chair base I am using as a bike stand. I did say I was poor didn't I?

Anyway, thanks for the help I've gotten so far, in the other threads. I came to this forum because it was recommended as the best overall CBR forum over any of the others out there. And I can see why, considering the instant help I've been getting. Thanks guys. I'll keep you posted on my progress.

Mabye you guys can help on this one.
Does this look like a stock shock? Doesn't to me. I'm thinking it may be a swap.

Looks way too new for an '87. But, I am new to Hondas, so I need expert opinions.

Yea looks like a stock shock, and that crack in your frame is common on these bikes so dont worry too much about the accident being that sever that it busted the frame. But definetly get it fixed.
