Default Pc19/23 engine swap??

Hi all, I've got a pc23 with a blown headgasket, have ordered a gasket kit but I need the bike next Wednesday for a trackday. I have an engine from a Pc19 that I got off Facebook, anyone know if it is a straight swap and if all the parts are compatible?

Thanks
Will

Not sure about physical mounting aspects. But extremely different engines. You'll need to get PC19 carbs, wiring-harness and ignition-module for it to work properly. Cancel or sell the trackday and take time to fix bike properly. Make sure you measure flatness of head and deck and get them machined flat if needed. Any rushing and missing step in replacing headgasket will destroy engine and you'll have to pull it yet again!

Also find out why it blew headgasket and fix it. Don't just throw new headgasket on and go on, problem is still there and will blow new one as well. Could be:

- overheating due to failed fan
- overheating due to failed fan circuit
- overheating due to failed fan thermo-switch
- running lean due to clogged carbs
- running lean due to mis-adjusted carbs
- too much compression from carbon build-up
- too much ignition-advance for octane-level
- etc.

Find actual cause of blown headgasket and fix it. BHG is just symptom or result of actual cause, whatever that may be.

Hi thanks for the reply.

Do you know what the differences are? I was under the impression that the only mechanical differences were the cams and carbs and was hoping I'd get away with the pc23 carbs. Obviously wouldn't be ideal but as I need the bike for next Wednesday seemed like my best option.

Whoops, sorry I was thinking of PC25 F2 engine.

Sure, should be able to use it with PC23 carbs and it'll probably run slightly rich. No biggie.

Not got the engine in the bike yet, but just used some compressed air to blow any dust out of the cylinders and in doing so I think I've found a problem. When I blow air into cylinder 3 it comes back out the top of cylinder 4... I'm fairly sure this shouldn't happen?

If I'm worrying over nothing please let me know guys

Cheers
Will

Sign of blown headgasket. Burned channel in gasket between cylinders
