The blue wire is on the bottom right of the short block if the short block is on the left when you are looking at it. White /yellow is top left short block.

Mine looks nothing like that. The wires go into a black plug that snaps into the spark unit. Doesn't have those off-white wire connectors shown in your picture. By the way it's a 1990 if anyone has the same bike. Thanks though, looking for any help. I'm not droppin $160.00 for a used CDI.

I finally found out what I need to do to get it registered and now this happened! It was starting and running great a few months ago.

The picture is of an 88 cdi. 89 and 90 are similar but have two extra wires for the side stand safety switch. Maybe check the sidestand switch is good or that you are not trying to start it in gear with the stand down.

Have you checked the
1. Main 30A fuse
2. Ignition switch
3. 10A sub fuse ( in the fuse block )
4. Engine stop switch
5. Side stand switch
If you tell us what color wires you have at the CDI then we can tell you which one to check. If you can't do that then check each one to ground ( frame ). You should get 12VDC on at least one of the wires( namely the Bu/Y ), assuming items 1-4 are good.

Thanks Billistic, I've checked most of those things and they were good. I'll go through the rest of your list and check back.

Didn't know if the key needed to be in the on position or not so I checked for voltage both ways. I took the plug off the CDI and checked every wire to ground for voltage. NOTHING. This has me kind of excited...I might not have to buy a $170 CDI.

I'm gonna give the wiring schematic a good look and go from there, seems like it might be something simple like a faulty switch. Thanks for the help guys.

Seems like the sidestand switch is bad after checking for continuity according to the manual. I'm going to try to overide it to make sure, anyone know how to overide it? I haven't yet figured out which wires to connect to bypass it.

Anyone know how to bypass the side stand switch? I tried what I thought would work but no-go. I also noticed that my lights would not work normally when you turn the ignition to "on" the lights come on.

I'll keep digging today and see what I can find.

What does that mean " I also noticed that my lights would not work normally when you turn the ignition to "on" the lights come on. "
To bypass the side stand switch.. you connect the green/white wire at the CDI connector to ground.
Is your battery voltage OK?
Do all the other lights and gauges work when you turn the key on?
