Exactley, Pump Octane Number (PON) 87 which is what we use in Canada. Which converts to Research Octane Number (RON) 91 which is used in Europe.

In a nutshell, Canadian or US 87 Octane = European 91 Octane = Regular Grade Fuel

i dont notice a difference in my bike if i run 93 or 87 but when i put in 91 ethanol free it seems much smoother and gets slightly better gas mileage

91 octane burns slower than 87 octane. The reason vehicles require 91 octane is because they have a very high compression ratio (usually 13+:1 ratio) and will get predetonation or "spark knock" if using 87 octane. The 87-90 CBR 600 has a compression ratio of 11:1. There have been NUMEROUS people who have proven by dyno that when using higher octane fuel unnecessarily, it in fact will reduce your engines horsepower. A little research on google will bring this up for you. Another downside to running slower burning fuels is that your engine doesnt completely burn off the mixture, leading over time to carbon buildup and deposits on your pistons and valves. Which carbon in turn acts as a sponge for the fuel and robs even more horsepower from your vehicle.

If someone wants the best performance from their vehicle, they should be running the LOWEST octane fuel they can without causing predetonation.

i know im not gaining any power running 91 without advancing timing or bumping up compression but thats the only grade that comes ethanol free non oxy. ive tried a tank of 87 e10, 93 e10, and 91 non oxy and i got about 30 extra miles to a tank and seemed a bit smoother reving thru the gears so ive been using that since. Not doing it for power just mainly because these bikes were never meant to run ethanol so id like to run pure gas as long as its available.

not E85, that stuff would probably cause every gasket and fuel line to leak.
colorado has 85 octane gasoline

Well, Last friday, Me and her met the pavement. Lady infront of me decided she wanted to slam on her brakes for no apparent reason which made me panic and grip the front brake... slid on nothing but my right shoulder for a good 50-60 feet wearing a sleeveless shirt cause i had just gotten off work and was on my way to buy a jacket. No broken bones, just some pretty gnarly road rash all down my right arm. Luckily she has no plastic. All i have to do to her is glue the blinker covers back on and she's good to go
