Hello!

I think this is my first post on this forum, I'll have to check after the post is done *edit* yep, first post! */edit*. I bought two CBR600F parts bikes (one wrecked) about a month ago and am currently turning them into a semi-restored/semi-streetfighter bike, and just have a few basic questions.

I have the Clymer manual for the bike(s), but I can't find anywhere if it says specifically what size the bolts I need off are, and don't want to go buy a bunch of expensive sockets just for the two I need. The bolts/nuts I don't have the right size socket to remove are:

The middle bolt in the top triple, if I had to guess I'd say it's a 30mm, but I'm not sure.
Also the nut holding the clutch assembly all together, I think it's a locking nut. I'm guessing it's a 26mm, can anyone confirm that?

I will take a look when I get home, but I dont think I have a socket that big either.

 

mmm.... 20mm on the clutch and i believe 24mm or 26mm on the stem nut.

 

Hmmm, well I have up to 25mm sockets, and both my clutch and triple nuts are bigger than those.

Maybe I'll have to just figure out a way to measure them.

 

well, i was partially right. the numbers i gave you are thread dia.

but, the stem nut is 30mm. and i would venture to say the clutch is 26 or 27 but since i can't find my spare i can't say for sure. the oem manual doesn't have socket sizes listed.

i can't remember how big the locknut is for the clutch, but if you can see it and compare to the stem nut, you won't be far off. it has to be under 30mm. you know, come to think of it, it is probably a 27 since the only other large socket i have isa 24mm.

30mm is what I was thinking, thanks for confirming that. Since I like to have (semi-good) quality tools, it's just too expensive to go out and buy 5-6 sockets when I'll only use two of them, most likely ever.
