need help compression question
i have a 1990 cbr600 i bought i thought i would start by checking compression
the engine currently does not start so the compression was done cold
cylinders without oil 1- 95 2- 80 3-95 4-80
cylinders with fogging oil 1-110 2-100 3-95 4-90 i think these are low tryin to figure out if this motor has any hope motor has over 40,000 miles 40,000 abused miles

I don't know the compression spec but I will check the values does any one know if the motor has to be dropped to adjust vaullves
Why are you doing a compression test? Did you try and run the engine and had a problem? These engines are pretty tough so would hope you ran it first before rushing off to do compression testing. It's difficult to get proper compression readings. You should look up the procedure in the shop manual.
Determining what might be at issue also takes more than just a compression test. A proper leak down test will help isolate whether there are valve problems or rings...assuming that engine was running poorly, which as I stated above is a critical factor.
